Nestled in the corner of a rickety old train, is a young woman carefully pouring over a tattered novel. Thick white steam billows into the clear summer sky as she takes a moment to stretch, observing the country pastures. She wonders what lays ahead when she reaches the great city.
@lavenderlight1598
She steadies herself and continues reading, the same chapter over and over again. Always one new chapter to the story of her life, giving her a clue as to what to do next. But this time, the story didn't seem to be matching up.
@justsully1324
While previous chapters captured events with pinpoint accuracy, this chapter told of tumbling black clouds, pouring rains from the heavens above and the crash of Zeus's mighty lightning. The distant cries of a lamb could be heard between each strike... but when the young woman casts her gaze beyond the train window, the sun shines gaily upon a mother sheep and her lamb, grazing on fresh green grass growing on the hill.
@littleninetales45
She ponders, the pages flicking through events already lived. Was this the story she lived, or was her life the story? She had never met the author, but they always, gave her answers. So, what was different this time? This chapter was new; however, the book was so very old.

The scenery changes dramatically as the woman approaches London- deeply concerned about the chapter’s dark tone. There is a constant buzz of energy as kids run around selling newspapers, and workers hurry home. The air feels thick and sticky as she steps onto the crowded platform- greeted coldly by her ageing uncle.
@yxngsin
He has changed since the last time she visited him in London- his face tattered, with folds and creases. As they begin slowly walking the length of the platform, the shouts of marshals and commuters reverberate around them. A rat hurriedly scurries out of harm’s way.
@caitlinselge
She follows him toward the Main Street. The only words exchanged, a stiff hello. She’d always liked him- her uncle. He was bright, and happy, a man you could trust. Only now he was aged, and dark: like a cloud was looming over his head, threatening to consume him entirely.
@lilyl13b
“Did something happen?” - she asks, “while I was away that is.”
“Nothing happened, nothing to do with you”, he replied curtly.
“Well, that means that something did happen.”
“And it’s none of your business”, he grunts at her.
That’s new; he never grunts at her.
@kelsiepage6
She is uncertain on how to respond to her uncle, so they walk aside one another- silently and in disconcert. As they tread toward his house, she feels the dark cloud which ponders over her uncle’s head, behind to expand above her own…
